Compositions and Methods for Inhibiting Endospores Using Green Tea Polyphenols

Description:

Title: Compositions and Methods for Inhibiting Endospores Using Green Tea Polyphenols

Summary: Researchers at Augusta University designed compositions and methods for killing, inactivating, or otherwise reducing the bacterial endospores by using an effective amount of green tea phenols (GTPs) or its derivatives. GTPs can also be used an additive in an existing line of products to make it more effective and green. At present we are pursuing United States patent protection (US patent application 14/333,279). This technology can be used in a variety of applications, for example, to increase the shelf-life of a food or a foodstuff, to reduce or delay the spoilage of a food or a foodstuff, or to decontaminate a device contaminated with spores.
